ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR SELF-EMPLOYED LAWYERS

  1. Law degree
    You are the holder of a diploma of doctor, master or licentiate in law or in the notarial field, delivered by a Belgian university or of an equivalent foreign diploma

  2. Service agreement
    You are linked as a self-employed natural person or as a one-person company, where appropriate through a placement company, by a service agreement to an employer that carries out an economic, social, administrative or scientific activity in Belgium in the public or private sector. This employer is an enterprise, an association of enterprises or an institution with legal personality.

  3. Legal responsibilities
    UYou provide studies and advice, draft deeds, give advice and provide assistance in the legal field on behalf of this employer, its affiliated companies or institutions, its associations or members. Your main responsibilities are in the legal field.

PRAcTIcal INFOrmation

The annual contribution for lawyers working for a company under a self-employed status is 350 € per calendar year started (if you become a member as from 1 July, then you only pay 175 € for the calendar year in which you register). You will find here a summary of the conditions applicable to IBJ-IJE membership fees. 

As an Associate Member of our organisation, you must abide by the regulations concerning IBJ-IJE Associate Members. In some cases, access to certain activities or services is reserved for Company lawyers.
