ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR PARALEGALS

1. Bachelor of Laws or equivalent professional experience
   You must be a graduate or bachelor of law or practice, or the equivalent foreign qualification, or have at least three years' relevant professional experience.
   
   
2. Employment contract
   You are linked, either by an employment contract or a statute, to an employer that carries out an economic, social, administrative or scientific activity in Belgium in the public or private sector. This employer is an enterprise, an association of enterprises or an institution with legal personality.
   
   
3. Paralegal responsibilities under the supervision of a company lawyer
   Under the supervision or responsibility of at least one in-house lawyer, you provide legal research, draft legal documents or their management, legal and administrative assistance within the legal department, follow-up on litigation files involving the employer, or carry out certain other well-defined tasks of a legal nature, on behalf of this employer, its affiliated companies or institutions, its business associations or members. You mainly have the above-mentioned responsibilities.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

The annual fee for paralegals is 250 € per calendar year started (if you become a member from 1 July, you pay only 125 € for the calendar year in which you registered). You will find a summary of the conditions applicable to IBJ-IJE membership fees here.

As an Associate Member of our organisation, you must abide by the regulations concerning IBJ-IJE Associate Members. In some cases, access to certain activities or services is reserved for full members.
