Legal Specialist - Commercial Legal And Regulatory compliance

The Legal Specialist is a member of the Center of Expertise (CoE) Legal & Regulatory.

Under the supervision of the Legal Counsel, the Legal Specialist provides legal support to Telenet Business (Telenet’s B2B division), in particular to the departments responsible for portfolio, marketing, sales and customer operations.

Key Accountabilities

• Providing broad commercial legal support (with a focus on commercial contracting, public procurement, electronic communications services, IT services, e-commerce and data protection).
• Advising on the implementation of new legislation.
• Drafting of standard contractual documentation (general terms and conditions, service (level agreements, etc.) and negotiating a wide range of tailor-made commercial contracts.
• Advising on marketing campaigns and reviewing marketing materials.
• Monitoring disputes and litigation with customers; coordinating with external law firms.
• Designing legal processes and creating content (templates, guidelines, trainings, …) that enable improvement of the legal services and increase efficiency.
• Contributing to the wider goals and/or activities of the CoE and/or the organization.

Knowledge & Experience

Education:

• Master in law

Knowledge & Experience:

• 3-5 years of relevant professional experience, of which (preferably) a few years in a reputable law firm, ideally combined with some first in-house experience.
• Keen interest in Telenet, as a company, on the one hand, and the technology sector and complex IT services, on the other hand, is a must.
• Experience in giving legal support in a comparable B2B environment is preferable but not required.

Skills & Abilities:

• Fluent in Dutch, French and English.
• Both a team player (coordinate with others, share knowledge, …) and able to work independently.
• Able to grasp and analyse a wide variety of (sometimes complex) questions and large quantities of information.
• Good at translating the legal context in hands-on and pragmatic advice that is also easy to understand for people without legal background.
• Not afraid of thinking beyond the legal framework; able to take into account the external environment and anticipate important challenges/future events that may have consequences for Telenet.
• Hands-on and resilient; able to navigate in a large and agile organization and deal with continuous change. 
• Open minded and flexible; able to interact with colleagues and stakeholders with different types of expertise, coming from various backgrounds.
