Admission requirements: paralegal associate members

Bachelor of Laws or equivalent professional experience

You are a graduate or hold a bachelor’s degree in law or legal practice, or an equivalent foreign diploma, or you demonstrate that you have acquired similar knowledge through a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.

Employment contract

You are bound by an employment contract or statute to an employer that carries out an economic, social, administrative or scientific activity in Belgium, in the public or private sector. This employer is a company, an association of companies or an entity with legal personality.

Paralegal responsibilities

You provide legal research, draft legal documents or manage them, provide legal and administrative assistance within the legal department, follow-up on litigation files involving the employer, or carry out certain other well-defined tasks of a legal nature, for the benefit of this employer, its affiliated companies or entities, its associations or their members under the supervision or responsibility of at least one company lawyer.

You mainly have the above-mentioned responsibilities.

Practical information

The annual membership fee for paralegals is 250 € per calendar year started.

As an associate Member of our organisation, you must abide by the regulations concerning IBJ-IJE associate members.
