IBJ joins the UIA

News

The Institute of Company Lawyers (IBJ-IJE) has recently joined the International Association of Lawyers (UIA) as a collective member.

Founded in 1927, the UIA is a truly global and multicultural organization of the legal profession, bringing together individual members and bar associations, federations and legal organizations across more than 100 countries. Through this unique network, it fosters high-level dialogue, professional development and collaboration across jurisdictions and legal disciplines.

The UIA also plays an important role in promoting the rule of law and supporting lawyers under pressure, notably through its advocacy work and its recognised status with international institutions, including the United Nations and the Council of Europe.

By joining the UIA, the IBJ-IJE further strengthens its international footprint and contributes to positioning the in-house legal profession on the global stage. The cross-profession and cross-border approach of the UIA offers valuable perspectives for our members and enriches the broader legal dialogue.

The IBJ-IJE is actively involved in the UIA In-House Counsel Commission, contributing to exchanges on the evolving role of company lawyers worldwide.

This new membership complements the IBJ-IJE’s existing international collaborations with organisations such as the European Company Lawyers Association (ECLA) and Association Française des Juristes d’entreprise (AFJE), [SV1] further reinforcing our commitment to connecting and representing the in-house legal community at European and global level.
