ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR LAWYERS WORKING FOR AN ENTITY WITH NORMATIVE OR MONITORING POWERS

  1. Law degree
    You hold a diploma of doctor, master or licentiate in law or in the notarial field issued by a Belgian university, or an equivalent foreign diploma.

  2. Working for an entity whose main task is to exercise public power
    You are attached, via an employment contract or a statute, to an employer that carries out normative or monitoring tasks (drafting or enforcing laws) in Belgium in the public or private sector and cannot therefore become a company lawyer. This employer is an enterprise, an association of enterprises or an institution with legal personality.

  3. Legal responsibilities
    You will carry out studies and provide advice, draft documents and provide legal assistance for this employer, its affiliated companies or institutions, its associations or members. Your main responsibilities are in the legal field.

PRACTICAL INFOrmation


The annual membership fee for lawyers working for an entity with a normative or audit activity is 350 €
per calendar year started (if you become a member as from 1 July, you only pay 175 € for the calendar year in which you register). 

As an Associate Member of our organisation, you must abide by the regulations concerning IBJ-IJE Associate Members. In some cases, access to certain activities or services is reserved for full members.
